"During the early hours of this morning, Dawn Princess passed through the Backstairs Passage into the Southern Ocean. Then we set a South-Easterly course which will continue on throughout the day taking us towards Bass Strait."
Today we had a culinary demonstration with galley tour and an extravaganza buffet. The highlight of my day is of course the Dicey Wooden Horse Racing with the Melbourne Cup. Sauerkraut Success/4 is wearing the colours of "Little Creatures" with a nice red angel sticker on his jockey. I have been joined by Deborah and Helen and eight German supporters in the Champagne owners alcove. I won on two of the warm up races. In the Final Melbourne Cup, Fun Lover/1, Wasabi Wonder/3 and Testa Rossa/6 were splendid. The horse number five, Comic Court had the best jockey and won the race with the $1,160 price.
After "Eat, love pray", we had our own version of Dancing with the stars: Dancing with the cast, where members of the Dawn Princess ship's company were paired with our Production Show dancers and have been challenged to choreograph their own dance numbers. The show was in the Princess Theatre, but "simulcasted" live into the Vista Lounge. Passengers in both theatres voted for the latin dance of the couple number 6.
Our luggage had to be placed out the staterooms by 10pm, I had a nice "Gold number 1" tag, but packing remains the saddest part of the cruise.
