Day 2 - Burnie, Tasmania (Remembrance Day)

"After disembarking our local pilot off Point Lonsdale yesterday evening, Dawn Princess steamed a South Easterly course towards Tasmania and the port of Burnie. Today navigational officers estimate the effects of set and drift due to the horizontal movements of the tidal current and compensate by altering the ships heading in order to make good the desired course."

Each day on Princess Cruises, the morning starts with the Wake Show on the internal TV system with the Cruise Director version of Sunrise. The daily four pages colour printed Princess Patter is detailed and we get the question for the quiz of the day. Today: "Who is the Master of the Vessel? Captain Vincenzo Lubrano."

The "penguometer" was low with no penguins to be seen and the highlights of my grey day in Burnie were the flight of a couple of wild black yellow-tailed cockatoes over the Bass Strait and a 90 minutes hot stones and feet massage at the Lotus SPA.

Formal night tonight with the Champagne Waterfall at the Captain Welcome Party, I warmed up to the humour of Mr Fish in the Vista Lounge Comedy Cabaret show and ended up throwing knives and wet fishes to him on stage.
What a pitiful assistant I have been in my diamond evening gown. I was then very pleased to join our Hotel General Manager, Mr Riccardo Zorzin, for a last drink at the Jammers Nightclub's Wild Bunch Party.
